The Williamstown Historical Museum will be hosting professor and historian Dr. Barbara Winslow to speak about Shirley Chisholm, our country's first African American Congresswoman, on Saturday, February 26th, at 11AM.
Politician, educator, and author Shirley Chisholm represented New York's 12th congressional district, a district centered on Bedford-Stuyvesant. She served in Congress from 1969 to 1983.
Barbara Winslow has a home in Williamstown and is a professor emerita at the School of Education at Brooklyn College. She is also the founder and former director of the Shirley Chisholm Project, an archive of Brooklyn Women’s Activism from 1945 to the present. Winslow is the author of “Shirley Chisholm: Catalyst for Change,” among other books. |
