You are cordially invited to join a talk on “Race, Gender, and Voting in the Age of Trump” by Traci Parker, Assistant Professor of Afro-American Studies at UMass Amherst. The talk is the main event at the Amherst League’s Opening Meeting on Thursday, September 17, 7-8:30 p.m. (The brief business meeting will follow talk and Q/A time.) Parker holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago and is the author of Department Stores and the Black Freedom Movement: Workers, Consumers, and Civil Rights. She is currently working on her second book, Beyond Loving: Black Love, Sex, and Marriage in the Twentieth Century. She teaches courses on African American women’s history, nineteenth and twentieth century U.S. history, race and racism, class, labor, capitalism, and consumer culture.
